Sungrow Charging presents ultra-fast 480 kW charging station for Europe at Intersolar 2024 - focus on bus depots and commercial vehicles

At the Intersolar trade fair, the manufacturer Sungrow Energy made a leap forward to ultra-fast charging for Europe. The target groups include bus depots.
The Chinese manufacturer Sungrow Charging will be ready to deliver 480 kW charging stations in Europe in two months. Robert von Wahl, Director Electric Vehicle Charging Europe, announced this to our editorial team following the product presentation at the Intersolar trade fair in Munich.
Sungrow Charging has so far reached the end of the line for ultra-fast e-vehicle charging at 180 kW. Some time ago, a Chinese car manufacturer presented the first 1,000 kW car. The trend is also moving towards ultra-fast charging in Europe.
Although Sungrow had already announced a 480-kV charging station at Intersolar 2024, it can only be divided into two 240-kW units, and the first two for Europe have only just been delivered.
In contrast, the new charging station system, which can be ordered as an alternative, is modular and low-maintenance and can be configured with output capacities of 240, 320, 360, 400 and 480 kW. Its output can be divided into up to 16 "satellite" charging stations of 40 kW each and with efficiencies of 97 percent.
According to Wahls, the satellite system is ideal for bus depots and commercial vehicle charging stations in service areas and car parks, where grid connection capacity is limited and buses and trucks are charged overnight at low power when drivers are off work or have to observe rest periods.
Other technical features of the new charging station include
- a more than ten-year design,
- air cooling, which is also used in Sungrow's inverters, isolated from the electrical system with a sealed, dust-free chamber
- and seamless integration into Sungrow's energy management system with photovoltaics and the Group's own electricity storage systems.
