How KNeDL facilitates digital access in agriculture

21.05.2025

The Competence Network Digital Agriculture Bavaria (KNeDL) is highlighted as an important player in the Politicus 01/2025 report on modern agriculture by Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung e.V.

Bavarian State Minister Michaela Kaniber emphasizes: "It is important to us that all farmers - regardless of whether they are part-time or full-time farmers - have practical access to the latest digital technology."

This is exactly where KNeDL comes in. Network manager Christian Metz explains: "Through networking and cooperation, we promote collaboration between farmers, research, companies and other stakeholders. The future of agriculture will be shaped by technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and big data."

One example of the successful implementation of digital technologies in agriculture is the "Huabahof" farm in Königsdorf near Bad Tölz. The family-run farm uses a variety of digital options, supported by the Technical University of Munich and Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. The farm focuses on sustainable and climate-neutral farming and promotes biodiversity. Technologies such as milking robots, sensor-controlled ventilation systems and an energy management system contribute to the farm's efficiency and sustainability.

Digitalization also opens up new possibilities in arable farming through the use of sensors and drones. Precise data on soil and plants leads to higher yields and lower costs. GPS-controlled and (partially) autonomous machines ensure precise sowing and harvesting. Data analyses detect impending plant and machine failures or diseases in plants and animals at an early stage. This leads to reduced use of resources and improvements in animal welfare.

These innovative solutions offer the potential to make arable farming more efficient and sustainable. The KNeDL ensures that the digital transformation in agriculture remains accessible to all and that everyone involved can benefit from the advantages. Want to find out more?

KNedL in practice - our event at Huabahof

The KNeDL team has already been able to see for itself the innovative power of Franz Xaver Demmel's organic farm during a tour of the stables and facilities. As part of the event "Networked and with energy" on July 10, 2024, Mr. Demmel explained the innovative energy concept of his farm - from the energy management of the photovoltaic system and the electric tractor to the use of the milking robot.
Here are some impressions of the successful event.
