The opening session will address strategic issues in medical technology: How can Germany and Bavaria remain internationally competitive? What role do partnerships between industry, academia, and government play? And how can innovations be sustainably established for the benefit of patients?
From Concept to Clinical Benefit: Successfully Implementing AI and Robotics in Practice
Robots and intelligent surgical devices were once just an idea, but today they play an increasingly important role in clinical practice. They have the potential to optimize—or even completely transform—clinical applications. In this session, we’ll explore the key factors for successfully integrating innovative technologies such as robotics and AI into clinical practice. We’ll discuss topics including how to address clinical needs and whether—and at what point—a hospital-industry collaboration makes sense. we will learn about a best-practice example of a successful innovation journey from research to everyday clinical practice, and we will also examine how Europe and Germany can continue to strengthen their leadership role in the medtech sector, including with new technologies such as robotics and AI.
Medical Technology Startup Pitch Competition
Our Startup Pitch Contest showcases startups with innovative solutions in the fields of health tech and healthcare. In this session, the finalists from the preliminary round will pitch their ideas to our high-caliber jury. The contest offers a platform to learn about the latest technologies and solutions that can transform and improve healthcare. It also provides valuable opportunities to network with the innovators of tomorrow and offers insights into current trends and developments in the health tech sector. The winners will be honored during the evening state reception at the Kaiserburg.
From Brain Signals to Clinical Applications: Neurotechnology Beyond Science Fiction
Neurotechnologies are increasingly making the leap from research laboratories to clinical practice. Advances in the detection of neural signals, brain-computer interfaces, neurostimulation, smart implants, and AI-powered data analysis are opening up new possibilities for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. What was long considered science fiction is now, step by step, becoming a medical reality. This session highlights current developments across the entire value chain—from the measurement and interpretation of neural signals to innovative implants and personalized therapies. Experts from research, industry, and clinical practice will discuss technological breakthroughs, challenges in clinical translation, and the role of artificial intelligence as a driver of innovation.
Menopause 4.0 – FemTech as a Field of Innovation for AI and Precision Medicine
Menopause is one of the largest—yet still under-researched—areas of women’s health. Yet it affects all women. At the same time, advances in artificial intelligence, wearables, digital biomarkers, multi-omics, and digital health applications are opening up new opportunities to understand hormonal changes and individual symptom progression through data-driven approaches and to address them in a targeted manner. This session explores menopause as a field of innovation at the intersection of medical technology, digital health, and precision medicine, and discusses how data-driven technologies can help close gender-specific gaps in care. The focus is on current research approaches, technological developments, and issues related to evidence, data quality, regulation, and gender-sensitive AI. The goal is to highlight the potential and challenges of innovation-driven menopause care for research, industry, and the healthcare sector.
How do medical technology innovations quickly make their way into routine clinical practice?
The journey of innovative medical devices to the patient does not end with successful product development or regulatory approval. Their actual adoption in clinical practice requires close collaboration between manufacturers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders throughout the innovation process. This session highlights the key challenges in translating medical innovations into patient care—from generating clinical evidence, through user-friendliness, reimbursement, and integration into clinical workflows, to user acceptance. By comparing the perspectives of industry and the medical community, this session identifies key hurdles and practical strategies to accelerate the integration of innovations into patient care while ensuring safety, efficacy, and sustainable implementation within the healthcare system.

The future of medical technology is shaped by international collaboration. This session opens up new perspectives across national borders and brings together stakeholders from diverse innovation ecosystems. International delegations, partner networks, and European innovation initiatives demonstrate how collaboration generates new momentum, facilitates knowledge transfer, and paves the way for sustainable innovations in healthcare.
AI as a Clinical Co-Pilot: From AI Agents to Safe MedTech Innovations
How can AI agents, clinical decision support, and data-driven medical devices improve diagnostics, care, and innovation—and what evidence, regulation, interoperability, and clinical validation are needed in Europe? Over the course of 90 minutes, brief presentations by leading European experts from the fields of technology, clinical practice, research, regulation, and medtech will bridge the gap between a grand vision and concrete implementation.
Personalized Medicine: The right treatment. For the right person. At the right time.
Personalized medicine tailors prevention, diagnosis, and treatment more closely to a person’s individual characteristics—such as genetics, biomarkers, lifestyle, and disease progression. This session will explore how data-driven methods, AI, and modern diagnostics can help detect diseases earlier, select treatments more precisely, and reduce side effects. At the same time, the session will examine the prerequisites for implementing personalized medicine in healthcare: reliable data, clear regulatory frameworks, data protection, reimbursement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Personalized medicine will become increasingly important in the future because it can treat patients more effectively, use resources in the healthcare system more efficiently, and bring innovations into clinical practice more quickly.
Closing Session: Insights, Connections, and Inspiration for the Future
To conclude the conference, the past two days will be reflected upon from various perspectives. Representatives from the sessions, the accompanying trade exhibition, and the partnering program will share their key impressions, discuss major trends, and provide insights into the topics that shaped the conference. The closing session not only summarizes key insights but also highlights the new contacts, collaborations, and initial ideas that have emerged.
Market Access in the U.S. or Europe—A Comparison of Challenges from a Regulatory Perspective
Regulatory requirements for market access of medical devices have evolved significantly in recent years in both Europe and the U.S. While the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) imposes stricter requirements for clinical evidence, technical documentation, and post-market surveillance, the U.S. FDA takes a risk-based and process-oriented approach with its own requirements for approval, quality management, and clinical data. This session compares the regulatory frameworks of both markets, highlights typical challenges for manufacturers, and outlines strategies for streamlining development and approval processes. The goal is to help companies decide which market is suitable for initial market entry and how regulatory requirements can be integrated into product development at an early stage.
