Rüdiger Pryss is a professor of medical informatics at the Institute for Clinical Epidemiology and Biometry at the University of Würzburg and at the Institute for Medical Data Science at the University Hospital of Würzburg. With over a decade of research experience at the interface of medicine, psychology and informatics, his work focuses on digital health, ecological informatics, AI in medicine, mobile computing and medical informatics. Rüdiger Pryss studied computer science at the universities of Passau, Karlsruhe and Ulm. He completed his master's and doctorate in computer science in Ulm. After his doctorate, he expanded his research in pure computer science into the fields of medicine and psychology, where again he mainly focused on digital health.
He has developed more than 20 digital applications, including the eSano platform (co-development), which was used in PSYCHOnlineTHERAPY, one of the largest psychotherapy studies in 2021 with digital interventions. Beyond academia, Pryss is active in politics and business. He is a member of the advisory board of the Bavarian Innovation Network for Health and co-founder of a start-up that brings digital technologies to medical care. As a member of the German DIN standardisation group for AI in medicine, he also addresses regulatory issues, and his team develops digital health applications under the Medical Devices Regulation.
