Do you manufacture, sell, or import machinery or equipment? Or are you perhaps an operator of machinery or related products, retrofitting them, or integrating individual machines into a complete system? Are you familiar with the legal framework? Can you demonstrate at any time that your machines comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements?
This fact sheet is intended to inform you about the legal situation in Germany and the European Union.
Compliance with the essential health and safety requirements of the EU Machinery Directive will be mandatory as of January 20, 2027. The Machinery Directive harmonizes the conditions for placing machinery on the market and making it available in the member states of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), thereby ensuring a uniform level of safety and the free movement of machinery and related products.
