The Bavarian battery industry came together at the Bavarian Battery Congress 2025 in Nuremberg to jointly shape the future of energy storage technologies. The event, organized by Bayern Innovativ, provided experts from industry, science, and the public sector with a central platform to exchange ideas on current developments, challenges, and innovation opportunities along the entire battery value chain. You can gain insights into the event in the image slide under the heading Review.

At the second networking congress of the Bavarian battery industry, experts from industry, research and the public sector met in Nuremberg to jointly shape the future of energy storage technologies. With the support of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Regional Development, the congress provided a central platform for exchange, networking and the presentation of specific support services along the entire battery value chain.

We would like to thank all stakeholders and visitors for their input and the exciting discussions. We look forward to the further expansion of the network!

Come to the second networking congress of the Bavarian battery industry. With the support of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs for Energy, Economic Affairs and Regional Development, we would like to network the industry better, highlight current topics and show the support options for players.

The past year 2024 was a turbulent year for the German battery industry. One exciting question remains; what direction will the new federal government take on the topic of batteries?

Regardless of this, companies are investing in production facilities for battery modules and exciting innovations are waiting to be tested. While the speed of the ramp-up of electromobility is subject to many uncertainties, the demand for stationary storage systems is exploding. But battery storage systems are also needed in the heavy-duty and power tool sectors.

Bavaria is home to important players in the automotive sector, but also to significant parts of the supplier industry. The industry still needs to be better networked and its competencies made more transparent. Asian production locations are far ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to Li ion technology. At the same time, Germany is home to some technology leaders and cutting-edge research.

Networking in advance!
Take the opportunity to network before the event. We will inform you about the possibilities after registration. On site, we will facilitate thematic networking on the various EU funding calls to make it easier for you to find good contacts.

We are expecting up to 300 people at the Scandic conference hotel, less than 5 minutes from Nuremberg Central Station.

The presentation offers a current status description of the opportunities and challenges of the European battery ecosystem in the global competitive environment. The focus is on the effects of industrial policy (funding) efforts achieved to date and an outlook on the strategy paths to be expected in the future. It offers a critical look at six years of European IPCEI funding from a practical perspective and an initial assessment of the new German government's planned support measures for industry and research.

12:15 pm

What's next for the battery industry? What can Bavaria do for the (European) value chains?

What is MAN already doing today (in the context of electrification, battery value creation). MAN is already investing heavily and is positioning itself for the future.
