The Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency (BayFIA), initiated by the Bavarian state government, supports Bavarian companies and research institutions in innovative project plans. Four powerful partners offer comprehensive service and consulting for the promotion of innovations - from the product idea to the finished innovation and marketing.

Innovative companies and inventors, universities and research institutions, offices and municipalities - they all have a share in the leading role that Bavaria plays as a science and technology location in Germany, Europe and the world. The task of the Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency is to support the players based in the Free State in establishing and expanding this position. You have an innovative idea but cannot develop it on your own because you lack the financial resources or special know-how? You would like to have a technological development protected or would like support in marketing it? As a central point of contact in Bavaria, the  Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency allocates funding and advises small and medium-sized enterprises and universities in particular on obtaining funding and on all issues of technology transfer and the protection and exploitation of scientific results.

BayFIA: Four partners under one roof

The Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency offers small and medium-sized enterprises and research institutions from Bavaria comprehensive support in the implementation of their projects as a central point of contact. BayFIA brings science and industry together, organizes networks, advises all parties involved and helps to obtain funding from the Free State, the federal government and the EU.

• Bayerische Forschungsallianz GmbH (BayFOR): EU funding center, Bavarian research alliances, International  knowledge cooperation
• Bayerische Forschungsstiftung: Funding of scientific technological research projects for cooperation projects science/business
• Bayerische Patentallianz GmbH (BayPAT): Central patent and  marketing agency for Bavarian universities and colleges, SMEs and independent inventors
• Bayern Innovativ GmbH: Innovation and knowledge transfer, initiation and support of cooperations via networks and clusters, funding consulting and project sponsorship

With their specific competencies, the four institutions, each with a different focus, offer a comprehensive range of services with end-to-end support - from research and innovation funding to knowledge and technology transfer to patents and licenses. The initiative launched by the Bavarian State Government is intended to support Bavarian companies and research institutions in order to keep pace with international competition in our fast-moving times and to stay ahead of the game when it comes to launching new products.
