In our short series "Three questions for...", we interview selected personalities on various topics. Among other things, the questions address topics that are discussed by the interviewees in the form of keynote speeches or other activities at Bayern Innovativ events.
Today, our short interview is with Holger John, Business Development / Sales Manager, UPM Biochemicals Sales GmbH.
Holger John is one of the speakers at our conference "Interieur im Automobil x InSuM" from 13 - 14.05.2025 in Ingolstadt.
Dear Astrid, what inspired you personally to focus on your presentation topic in the field of automotive interiors?
Dr. Astrid Wollenberg: In my opinion, the topic of "interior" is of central importance for the mobility customer: It is the place in the vehicle that the customer experiences even before the journey begins. In order to do even better justice to all customer groups, we are focusing on the topic of inclusion and interiors.
What central challenge do you currently see in the design of vehicle interiors, and how can your experience help to solve it?
Dr. Astrid Wollenberg: In our experience, vehicle interiors need to be increasingly flexible and customizable, without the customer wanting to compromise on aspects such as safety and comfort. I think it is essential to work on the subject of interiors with a team of experts who bring just as much diversity to the table as our customer groups. My many years of professional experience in the company and the fact that I have worked in many different stations, locations and areas help me in my work.

"The topic I am presenting helps to make the interior more customer group-specific and to provide people with disabilities with further assistance on the vehicle side to give them an individual driving experience."

How do you think vehicle interiors will change in the next five to ten years, and what role will your topic play in this?
Dr. Astrid Wollenberg: I assume that we will be offering more interiors for autonomous vehicles in the future. The topic I am presenting will help to make the interior more customer group-specific and provide people with disabilities with additional assistance on the vehicle side to give them a personalized driving experience.
