The Enterprise Europe Network informs:
The European Commission has presented a new strategy for the EU Single Market to facilitate trade and investment and remove existing barriers. The Single Market, which comprises 26 million businesses and 450 million consumers, has been a driver of growth and prosperity in Europe for over 30 years.
The strategy focuses on removing the ten biggest barriers, including
- Complicated company formation and management
- Complex EU regulations
- Lack of recognition of professional qualifications
- Lack of common standards
- Fragmented regulations for packaging
- Lack of product conformity
- Restrictive national rules for services
- Burdensome rules for the posting of workers
- Unjustified territorial supply restrictions
The aim is to simplify, harmonize and strengthen the single market, in particular to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by promoting digitalization. Member States are invited to help make the EU market the best choice for businesses, workers and consumers.
