Seeking MEA Manufacturing Capacity

An Austrian deep-tech startup is seeking European manufacturing partners with expertise in roll-to-roll slot-die coating and converting for membrane-electrode assemblies used in electrolysers and fuel cells. The goal is to identify suitable manufacturing capacities starting in 2028 for a planned production volume of up to 5,000 m² per year.

The company has more than 25 years of experience in the field of electrolyzers and fuel cells and develops and manufactures state-of-the-art membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for the hydrogen economy. Currently, the processes are at the laboratory and pilot scale; therefore, external production capacity will be needed for future series production.



s Sought The company is seeking partners who, in addition to coating, can handle other process steps such as drying, web handling, lamination, cutting, or die-cutting, as well as the integration of sealing or sub-gasket materials, quality control, documentation, and packaging. Of particular interest are companies with experience in functional coatings, electrochemical components, membranes, catalyst inks, fuel cells, electrolysers, batteries, sensors, or printed electronics.
The collaboration is to begin with a non-binding discussion regarding existing capacity and technical suitability. If suitable, this may be followed by feasibility trials, pilot campaigns, and a subsequent transition to recurring production. Collaborations are planned within the framework of outsourcing, supply, or commercial agreements with technical support.
