Turning Data into Insights: How DextraData Healthcare Supports Clinics in Their Digital Transformation
October 29, 2026
Data is considered one of the most important raw materials for innovation in healthcare. After all, it is the only way to manage treatment processes, identify bottlenecks early on, and make decisions based on a solid foundation. However, its value only becomes apparent when information is transformed into concrete insights, which in turn lead to better decisions. This is precisely where DextraData Healthcare Technologies GmbH comes in. As a partner in Bayern Innovativ’s Healthcare Innovation Network, the company is committed to bringing data-driven solutions to life in collaboration with stakeholders from healthcare, academia, and industry.
DextraData Healthcare, headquartered in Essen, is a subsidiary of DextraData GmbH, which has been developing “Made in Germany” software since 1995. The group’s healthcare division brings together its solutions for hospitals and healthcare facilities.
From a Data Problem to a Knowledge Problem
Hospitals generate enormous amounts of data every day. This data comes from sources such as the hospital information system, nursing documentation, medical devices, and bed scheduling. However, this information is often stored in separate systems, transferred manually, or does not reach the relevant parties in a timely manner. “We don’t have a data problem; we have an insight problem,” says Matthias Beuth, Managing Director at DextraData Healthcare, describing the core approach. The challenge lies less in the availability of data than in providing the relevant information at the right time and preparing it in a way that enables action. This issue is a focus for many partners in the network, ranging from hospitals to medical device manufacturers to research institutions.
What DextraData Healthcare Specifically Offers
The centerpiece of the portfolio is VIBS9 (“Visual Information Broadcasting System”), a platform for process communication in hospitals. It digitizes routine processes such as patient admissions and transfers and provides the relevant information to the departments involved—on PCs, tablets, or central touch terminals. This relieves staff of the burden of manual coordination and frees up more time for patient care. With the acquisition of RHEYNI GmbH & Co. KG, DextraData Healthcare is expanding VIBS9 into a central communication platform for physicians, nursing staff, and patients. In addition, the Dex7 IoT platform supports hospitals with capacity and device management.
AI as a tool, not an end in itself
Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in this context. For DextraData Healthcare, however, it is not an end in itself, but rather a tool for analyzing complex data sets, identifying patterns, and providing targeted support to healthcare professionals—for example, in capacity planning or prioritizing workflows. The responsibility for decisions always remains with humans. The company views collaboration within the network as a valuable complement to its own development work, particularly when it comes to the responsible use of AI in everyday healthcare.
Shaping Tomorrow's Healthcare Together
DextraData Healthcare sees great potential in the combination of AI, data integration, and hybrid healthcare delivery structures. Digital technologies can strengthen cross-sector collaboration between hospitals, medical practices, and long-term care facilities and make healthcare more proactive. Such solutions rarely emerge in isolation, which is why the company relies on the Health Innovation Network as a platform to share experiences, incorporate user perspectives, and initiate new collaborations.
Within the network, DextraData Healthcare contributes its expertise at the intersection of data, AI, and healthcare, thereby helping to bring innovations into clinical practice more quickly.
