In a first-of-its-kind approach, “eazySNP” combines the highly specialized molecular techniques LAMP and CRISPR. By combining these two methods, eazySNP enables the rapid and highly specific detection of genetic variants. The synergy of these technologies was made possible by the scientific collaboration between Amplex Diagnostics and Scope Biosciences and, with the successful launch of the first CE-IVD-approved product, represents a significant advance in molecular SNP diagnostics.
First Product: eazySNP C. auris FKS1 S639 (CE-IVD)
The first application of eazySNP technology targets one of the world’s most significant multidrug-resistant yeasts: Candidozyma auris. “eazySNP C. auris FKS1 S639” is the first diagnostic of its kind with CE-IVD approval and enables the targeted detection of clinically relevant mutations in the FKS1 gene that are associated with resistance to echinocandins. Since echinocandins are currently considered the first-line therapy against C. auris, the rapid identification of resistance-associated variants is of great importance. The analysis is performed directly from a yeast colony on the eazyMini platform and delivers results in just 45 minutes. With eazySNP technology, a rapid and targeted molecular solution for detecting this important resistance marker is now available for the first time.
