Funding opportunities for quantum technologies in the new EDF Call

The European Defense Fund (EDF) is once again offering new funding opportunities this year through collaborations in the field of security and defence. These are of particular interest to companies and research institutions in the field of quantum technologies, start-ups, universities and research institutes. Consortia consisting of at least two independent legal entities from different EU member states or associated countries are eligible to participate.
Although quantum technology is not explicitly mentioned, there are exciting points of contact in the following areas:
- Advanced sensors: development of multi-band 4D radar and infrared detectors to improve detection and surveillance.
- Information superiority: Improving the multifunctional information distribution system to increase efficiency and security in communication networks.
- Cyber: Strengthening cyber defense operations and autonomous vehicles through advanced quantum encryption and security.
- Space: Projects on on-orbit operations and space-based ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) Constellation to improve space surveillance and communications.
- Disruptive technologies: Research on technologies for great depths, such as monitoring and defending critical underwater infrastructure at depths of up to 6000 meters, using quantum sensors.
