Profile
The ZISC Founded in 2011, the Central Institute for Scientific Computing (ZISC) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) bundles the many scattered research activities in the interdisciplinary field of Scientific Computing across faculties and departments in a competence center. This has created a cooperation platform that strengthens many of FAU's existing research focuses and from which important new research projects can be initiated. To this end, ZISC also supports interdisciplinary doctoral training in simulation techniques via a graduate college and through cooperation with the DAAD. Another focus is on technology transfer between FAU and industrial companies by initiating and supervising joint projects in the area of modeling and simulation. For more information, see the ZISC web pages (https://www.zisc.fau.de). Chair of Mathematical Optimization The Chair of Mathematical Optimization (Prof. Dr. Stingl) is located in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The main focus is on the one hand the research and development of algorithms of gradient-based optimization and on the other hand method development in structural optimization with the objective of material design and additive manufacturing. A special feature of the chair are the manifold cooperations with academic and industrial partners in the field of engineering. In particular, the support of participation in collaborative projects in the field of additive manufacturing adds up to 15 person-years in which different specific problems of structural optimization were researched. For more information, see the web pages of the Department of Mathematics at FAU (https://www.mso.math.fau.de)

What will be shown at the booth?
-In essence, the range of services and competences of the working group will be shown on posters. -In addition, we offer information about further possibilities of cooperation with FAU in the field of "Modeling & Simulation" What information should be transported? -Possibilities for industrial cooperation especially with the working group "Mathematical Optimization" as well as other university groups that are generally engaged in "Modeling & Simulation. What should a booth visitor learn about us and take away? -A general booth visitor should specifically learn about the potential of mathematical structural optimization. -For an industry representative, the possibilities of low-threshold cooperation opportunities should additionally be shown as an essential point.
