Do you manufacture, import, or sell electrical or electronic equipment? Are you familiar with the legal requirements? Can you demonstrate at any time that your equipment meets the applicable essential requirements regarding the use of certain hazardous substances?
This fact sheet is intended to inform you about the legal situation in Germany and the European Union. The RoHS Directive promotes sustainable development by permanently restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. This reduces potential risks and hazards associated with the management of waste generated from these devices, thereby contributing to the proper and environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste in a manner consistent with the public interest. This is particularly important given the shorter life cycles of many electrical and electronic devices and the general increase in the number of such devices in all areas of life.
