Do you manufacture, import, or sell energy-related products? Are you familiar with the legal requirements? Can you demonstrate at any time that your appliances meet the applicable energy efficiency requirements?
This fact sheet is intended to inform you about the legal situation in the European Union and in Germany. Many energy-related products placed on the market in Europe have significant potential for improvement in terms of reducing environmental impacts and saving energy through better design, which also leads to economic savings for businesses and end users. For this reason, the EU has established the Ecodesign Directive, a framework that sets Community-wide ecodesign requirements for energy-related products, with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of such products and ensuring the free movement of goods within the single market. In addition, the requirement for energy consumption labeling ensures that purchasers of these products are provided with the necessary information.
