Competencies Fusion technologies

The Bavarian fusion network brings together companies, start-ups and research institutions along the entire fusion energy value chain. From high-performance materials, cryogenic and vacuum technology, precision optics and manufacturing technologies to innovative reactor concepts and laser approaches through to safety, engineering and technology transfer - this is where the industrial foundation for the energy of tomorrow is being laid.

Our map shows the players, competencies and connections that are working together to make fusion energy a reality.

Slogan

Advanced manufacturing technologies for nuclear fusion components

Profile

We shape technology transfer and transform scientific findings into practical solutions - from innovative concepts to practicable applications for industry. We develop advanced manufacturing technologies for nuclear fusion components with a focus on plasma-loaded materials and heat sinks.

Our information

We make manufacturing companies fast, flexible, sustainable and digital. With tailor-made solutions, we support you in the development and optimization of your products and processes as well as in the introduction of future-proof technologies and processes. Small and medium-sized companies as well as large corporations benefit from our modern equipment, close-to-production solutions and reliable project management.

Technology / Research

We conduct research and development in the field of additive manufacturing, foundry technology and coating technology with a focus on solutions for fusion research.

  • Additives of tungsten and tungsten alloys as well as copper and copper alloys, in particular as composite materials or multi-material solutions for innovative concepts in the field of plasma-loaded components
  • Coating of tungsten and tungsten alloys on different substrates by means of cold spraying
  • Casting of geometrically highly complex components from different alloys

Solutions tested in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics.

Products / (services) performances

  • Testing and further development of manufacturing technologies for future reactor designs
  • Design and layout of functionally integrated components in multi-material construction

Let's exchange ideas and find out how you and your company can benefit from the merger market.
