The Thinknet 6G Summit 2021 served as a kickoff event to introduce Germany’s four 6G research hubs and foster exchange between industry, academia, and policymakers. The Thinknet 6G Summit 2021, held on October 28, 2021, marked the launch of a series of events focused on the sixth generation of mobile communications. Organized by Thinknet 6G at Bayern Innovativ, the event served as a platform to introduce Germany’s four national 6G research hubs: 6G Future Lab, 6G-life, 6G-RIC, 6GEM, and Open6GHub. Representatives presented their objectives and progress to strengthen collaboration between industry, academia, and policymakers. Emphasis was placed on the need for early investment in 6G development to secure technological leadership and drive innovation.
In addition to expert presentations, intensive discussions took place on the key drivers of 6G, expected use cases, technical challenges, and the timeline for development and deployment. These conversations provided valuable insights into the future of mobile communications and the strategic planning needed for the successful implementation of 6G.
