A Strong Boost for AI in Bavaria: EDIH DIBI and EDIH DinO Exchange Ideas

July 20, 2026

The Bavarian EDIHs exchanged ideas on AI, digitalization, and best practices. With the merger to form edih dina, expertise is being pooled to provide even more targeted support to companies undergoing digital transformation.

On July 14, the partners of the two Bavarian EDIHS met to discuss key lessons learned, best practices, and future development potential.
The focus was on the shared goal of providing targeted support to companies and public organizations as they adopt digital technologies and AI applications and further expand their AI capabilities.

In addition to Bayern Innovativ, the other partners in attendance were OTH Regensburg, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, Baiosphere, Fraunhofer IGCV, Fraunhofer IIS, fortiss, appliedAI Institute for Europe gGmbH, Techbase Regensburg, Bayerische Forschungsallianz GmbH, and DZ.S Schwaben.

The open and constructive dialogue once again demonstrated the value of close networking within the EDIH ecosystem.
The joint discussion focused not only on insights gained to date and best practices but also on how these ideas can be leveraged for further collaboration and future projects. The exchange was characterized by a very positive, solution-oriented atmosphere and many valuable perspectives.
Going forward, the strengths of both initiatives will be combined in edih dina, which will emerge from the merger of the EDIHs DIBI and DInO. The meeting provided valuable impetus for further collaboration and has generated anticipation for the launch of edih dina in September.

Starting in September 2026, edih dina—with nearly 6 million euros in funding—will support the private sector and public administration in their application-oriented digital transformation. We offer nearly 100 free services and consulting offerings—ranging from artificial intelligence and IT security to digital production, deep tech, grants, and venture capital.

DIGITALIZATION AS A DRIVER OF INNOVATION

edih dina helps companies assess their level of digital maturity, better understand digital technologies, test them, and translate them into concrete applications. We enable companies to test innovations in a practical setting even before making an investment, provide access to innovation ecosystems, and support companies both in accessing grants and financing opportunities and in building digitalization capabilities over the long term.

YOUR NETWORK FOR THE DIGITAL FUTURE

Our goal is to promote digitalization and innovation, make processes more efficient, develop new business models, and establish a strong network. Together, we’ll help you navigate the transition to key digital technologies and sustainably strengthen your competitiveness.

Edih dina: A Bavarian consortium of more than ten partners has successfully applied for EU funding as a European Digital Innovation Hub. In addition to Bayern Innovativ, the consortium includes the applied AI Institute, the Bavarian Research Alliance, the Bavarian AI Agency BAIOSPHERE, the Digital Center Swabia (DZ.S), fortiss, the Fraunhofer Institutes IGCV and IIS, TechBase Regensburg, and the Technical Universities of Augsburg and Regensburg. Bayern Innovativ will lead the consortium and be responsible for project communications.
