Thinking outside the box is important for new ideas and innovations. In our study, we therefore look at three of the most innovative countries in Europe:
Belgium, Sweden and Switzerland were selected on the basis of the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS).
The innovation systems analyzed in these countries provide inspiration for various questions that transfer and innovation intermediaries deal with:
- How can cooperation projects be successfully initiated?
- Which transfer methods can be used to successfully organize the transfer between business and science?
- How can the exchange of knowledge be organized efficiently?
- How do successful European countries use resources for an ideal technology transfer?
- What measures can be used to support the start-up landscape?
Insight into the first, more concrete findings of the study
A comparative analysis of comprehensive innovation indicators shows that consistent financial and non-material investments in research, development and innovation promotion pay off.
Although there is no "one-size-fits-all solution" for a successful exchange between science and industry, the case studies have nevertheless produced a large number of best practices, including

- Targeted incentives for collaboration
- a mindset that is open to innovation
