EU strengthens hospital cyber security

The European Commission is investing €145.5 million in the cybersecurity of the healthcare sector. Two calls for funding under the "Digital Europe" and "Horizon Europe" programs will support SMEs and public administrations.

As part of "Digital Europe", 55 million euros, of which 30 million euros will go directly towards improving the cyber security of hospitals and healthcare providers. The aim is to better protect them from cyber threats, particularly ransomware. The deadline for applications is 7 October.
Call for proposals under the Digital Europe program

The Horizon Europe program provides 90.5 million euros for research and development. This includes the use and development of generative AI for cybersecurity, advanced tools for operational cybersecurity, privacy-enhancing technologies and post-quantum cryptography. The application deadline here is November 12.

These measures contribute to the implementation of the action plan to strengthen cybersecurity in the European healthcare system.
