pv-wissen.de, a new, practice-oriented knowledge platform for the photovoltaic industry, has been online since June 2024.

The joint project of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW) and the German Solar Energy Society (DGS) offers free content on the planning, assembly, electrical installation and commissioning of PV systems.

The platform is aimed at specialists from the solar and electrical trades, planning offices and educational institutions. It is based on the DGS's renowned "Photovoltaic systems" guide and is funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU).

pv-wissen.de offers comprehensive information on various topics:

  • Basics: introduction to solar energy, solar cells and PV systems.
  • Components: Details on PV modules, inverters, battery storage systems and other system components.
  • Planning: Assistance with site analysis, dimensioning of PV generators and inverters as well as grid connection planning.
  • Installation: Instructions for mounting PV systems on different types of roofs, AC and DC cabling and commissioning.

Interactive tools and webinars are also offered to promote the transfer of knowledge. For example, a webinar on the topic of "Roofs, façades and statics" took place on December 3, 2024 as part of a four-part series.

The content of pv-wissen.de is accessible free of charge and is financed by advertising revenue. For users who prefer an ad-free experience, subscriptions are available from 3.99 euros per month.
