In Markt Indersdorf, Upper Bavaria, the local heating network is being expanded and combined with nature conservation measures.

Municipal politicians, businesses and citizens are working together on climate protection and the energy transition. A new district heating network for 120 households reduces 750 tons of CO2 annually.

Since 2016, the rural community in the Dachau district has been producing more renewable electricity than it consumes. Solar and bioenergy capacities are being continuously expanded. The administration is also focusing on energy efficiency measures.

Dr. Robert Brandt, managing director of the Renewable Energy Agency, emphasizes the high energy consumption in the heating sector and praises the cooperation between the administration and local farms in Markt Indersdorf, which promotes the heat transition and biodiversity.
