The EU-India Platform for Access to Aerospace Technology opens up new opportunities for European companies, research institutions, and technology centers in the dynamically growing Indian market. The goal is to specifically promote cooperation between European innovation stakeholders and Indian partners in the fields of aviation, defense, and space.
India’s aerospace and defense sector is experiencing strong growth: The market volume stood at 26.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2023 and is projected to rise to approximately 48 billion U.S. dollars by 2032. At the same time, with approximately 174 million passengers, the country is becoming the third-largest aviation market worldwide. Growth drivers include the expanding middle class, infrastructure development, and government initiatives such as “Make in India.”
Despite this momentum, significant technology gaps remain, for example in the areas of propulsion technology, avionics, simulation, UAV systems, satellite technologies, and high-performance materials. Here, European companies, with their mature solutions, offer great potential for strategic partnerships and technology transfer.
The platform specifically addresses this need and creates structured pathways for European stakeholders to access the Indian market. The focus is on areas of cooperation such as civil aviation (e.g., MRO and digital air traffic management), defense and space technologies, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable aviation solutions.
A central, free webinar on June 25, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., will provide, among other things, an overview of the Indian aerospace sector, current developments in the EU-India Free Trade Agreement, insights into market opportunities, regulatory frameworks, and the handling of intellectual property in India.
