06.05.2026

In the context of Egypt's Vision 2030, a high-profile delegation from various institutions led by the Hanns Seidel Foundation visited Bavaria to find out about approaches to technology transfer, network/cluster development, labor market development, lifelong learning and sustainable business.

As part of Egypt's Vision 2030, which aims for an inclusive and innovation-oriented economy through institutional modernization, skills development and sustainable policies, a multidisciplinary delegation conducted a five-day study tour to Bavaria. The aim of the trip was to learn about best practices and institutional processes that strengthen the adaptability of the workforce in a changing labor market.

The delegation consisted of representatives from the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), the Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS), the Arab Institute for Navigation (AIN) and the Hidden Pearls Association for Development (HPAD). Together, they pursued the goal of strengthening institutional and organizational capacities to support local development.

During their stay, key topics such as lifelong learning, retraining, sustainable labor market integration and innovation-oriented economic participation in the areas of governance, education, sustainability and technology ecosystems were addressed. In particular, the delegation examined approaches to promoting the adaptability of employees and jobseekers in the face of technological, demographic and environmental changes.

A special item on the agenda was the visit to Bayern Innovativ in Augsburg, where Bayern Innovativ and the Augsburg Technology Center were able to present some approaches to technology transfer.

Dr. Barbara Giehmann presented the New Materials Cluster with the RTIT project, which is establishing a knowledge network in the field of materials in the Danube region. Heiko Bartschat presented the Bavarian cluster offensive and the cluster activities at Bayern Innovativ and gave valuable tips and tricks for networking.

Mr. Hehl from the Augsburg Innovation Park and the Augsburg Technology Center clearly showed how the various partners in the ecosystem work together and how the different offers interlock to bring science and business together.

The study trip also served to exchange ideas on the further development of education and training systems and to identify possible adaptation strategies for the Egyptian context. The knowledge gained should help to strengthen Egypt's institutional adaptability and economic resilience in the long term.
