Master program PHOTONICS

Our mission is applied research and teaching in photonics and laser applications. Understanding and mastering the photon, the particle of light in all its forms is the focus of our master program in PHOTONICS. Scientific progress has turned this discipline into a driver in innovation and economic development in a wide range of business and industrial applications.

LASERCENTER

Our group at the Lasercenter studies applications of ultrafast lasers and their mechanisms focusing on industry, science and life science. We create fundamental understanding of laser processes at the interface of physics and engineering. Our core competences include time-resolved experiments and simulations such as ultrafast pump-probe microscopy and ellipsometry, multi-physics and multi-scale simulations of laser-matter interaction and femtosecond laser living cell bioprinting. We are currently developing experimentally validated models for ultrashort pulse laser processing.

MULITPHOTON IMAGING LAB

The Multiphoton Imaging Lab group is developing advanced laser scanning microscopy techniques for the study of biological systems with ultrashort pulse lasers. The imaging contrast is generated by nonlinear optical processes such as TPEF, SHG and CARS. Combining TPEF with microscopy techniques like FLIM, SIM or STED enables us to image three-dimensional specimens with high resolution.
