Prof. Dr. Jaensch develops drive systems for future sustainable mobility. His research areas include combustion engines powered by synthetic fuels, electric drives and mobile drives using hydrogen as an energy source. The focus is on applications in vehicles and the holistic combination of simulation, prototype development and testing.

Prof. Jaensch is also interested in energy and the interface between energy and mobility, as this will define the future of drive systems and therefore mobility itself. The one-hectare site in Schragenhofstraße will be transformed into a real laboratory for the energy transition, in which the properties, interactions and optimization of energy converters can be realistically measured.

Prof. Jaensch studied mechanical engineering at the TU Braunschweig. He moved to Imperial College London to complete his doctorate in mechatronics. For the following seven years, he worked as a founder and senior engineer in the field of electrical machines at EVO Electric. In parallel, he obtained an MBA in Technology and Innovation from Imperial College Business School. In 2013, he returned to Germany to set up and manage the electric drives division for Porsche Engineering. Prof. Jaensch has been at TUM since 2021.
