Friedrich Simmel is Professor of the Physics of Synthetic Biological Systems at the Technical University of Munich. His research combines physics, biology, and nanotechnology with the aim of developing artificial molecular machines and understanding and engineering self-organization and information processing in biological systems. He is spokesperson of the Cluster of Excellence “Biosystems Design Munich”.
