"Franziska Mathis-Ullrich is an HTA professor at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), where she heads the Laboratory for Surgical Planning and Robotic Cognition (SPARC).

Mathis-Ullrich and her team are researching minimally invasive, cognitive robotic systems for surgery. Mathis-Ullrich places particular emphasis on the development and integration of machine learning methods for use in various surgical disciplines. She is currently investigating autonomous robotic instruments for surgical procedures in abdominal surgery, neurosurgery and endovascular interventions. Her research not only advances the field of cognitive surgical robotics, but also aims to improve surgical outcomes and patient care through the introduction of innovative solutions and technologies in the medical field"
