Profile
The chair FAPS was founded in 1982 under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing Klaus Feldmann at FAU. In 2009, Prof. Dr.-Ing Jörg Franke took over the leadership and concentrated the research on innovative manufacturing processes for mechatronic products.
The development work covers the complete process chain, which begins with the packaging of electronic components, finds a focus in the assembly of electronic assemblies, completely covers the manufacturing processes for electric drives, focuses on processes and equipment for final assembly and considers in it, among other things, the development of contacting as well as the laying of cable systems. For these production processes, around 2,500 square meters of high-performance machine and plant technology are currently available on two sites for the production of mechatronic products and their qualification.
A key project of the FAPS chair is the E|Drive Center. This supports companies in the analysis and optimization of the application, the production-related design as well as the production process design of electrical drive technology.
