Today, the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich is known for academic teaching, excellent research, technology and knowledge transfer as well as the promotion of young scientists. It has also developed into one of the top addresses for security issues in technology and society. Seven university faculties and three faculties of the University of Applied Sciences cover the entire spectrum from basic research to application-oriented research, even across disciplinary boundaries. Outstanding scientific facilities enable internationally competitive research at a high level. Research in a secure environment (VS) is a unique selling point. The UniBw are a strategic resource for the BMVg and the Bundeswehr:

Profile

The Bundeswehr University Munich (UniBw M), which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023, is one of two universities at which the Bundeswehr trains military and civilian personnel. It is an educational institution recognized by the Free State of Bavaria, free in research and teaching. The "Research Profile Security and Sustainability in Technology and Society" addresses the major challenges facing Germany.

Technology

The research institutes and research centers of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich bundle existing university and non-university collaborations and act as a central point of contact for the respective research priorities. The common goal of the research institutes is to make the university's key research areas visible and to position them in the national and international research landscape. Other objectives include promoting young talent, advising users and establishing and expanding research collaborations with public institutions, industry and society.
