Current research project:
Psychological factors of the use and development of e-mobility fast charging stations (Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs)
Profile
The Chair of General Psychology and Methodology combines basic and applied research in many areas of human perception, feeling, thinking and acting. Aesthetics and design research (What is beautiful? How does taste change over time?) are as much a focus as the perception and processing of human faces -- and disturbances in this processing, for example in the phenomenon of face blindness (prosopagnosia).
Competence in classical statistical methods is complemented by the application of modern measurement methods (eye tracking, pupillometry, EEG, MEG, EDA, TMS), the further development of experimental procedures (e.g., with the multidimensional implicit association test md-IAT), the development of new computational methods (bi-dimensional regression, IMUDE, BBSI), and the application of modern sensor technology from the consumer field in the psychological context (Microsoft Kinect, Nintendo Balance Board).
In projects of the Europ&&>European Research Center (Europ&>European Research Center for Psychology), we are working on the development of new methods for the study of the human face.
In projects of the European Union (AAL-Fearless, VKJF), the chair is involved in research on technical aids for the elderly or dementia patients (Ambient Assisted Living) and in health and occupational medicine. With partners from the automotive industry (e.g. BMW AG) and online retail (e.g. BAUR Versand), the targeted transfer of scientific findings to the economy takes place.
