20 research groups are working with 9 industry partners on 36 projects.

The  Initiative KW 21 started on 01 July 2004 and provides a significant contribution to the fact that power plants künftig more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Contents are new technologies für small power plants, Kraft-Wärme-Kopplungsanlagen and other combustion power plants, but also energy economic analyses and strategies from a business, economic and ökologische perspective. This ensures that technological developments complement each other in a meaningful way and that topics such as energy efficiency, NOx reduction or CO2 capture are always approached in the context of technological, economic, ecological and societal perspectives.
