Market leader in chip manufacturing cleaning processes enters DLC thin film technology

The Cleanpart Group, headquartered in Asperg, Germany, mainly cleans and processes wafer-related components and assemblies from high-vacuum manufacturing equipment in the semiconductor industry. In addition to this core sector, the company also works for the optics, solar, medical and automotive industries with gentle cleaning processes until they are particle-free or individual coatings to achieve special functional surfaces. A new addition to the portfolio of functional coatings is now plasma thin-film technology in Asperg through the acquisition of Ikos GmbH from Stockstadt am Main. Highly stressable thin coatings such as DLC (diamond-like carbon) offer high utility value for all mechanical engineering sectors in protecting tools and components against wear and corrosion, but are also used in diesel injection technology, the biocompatible coating of medical implants or for friction reduction in molding and forming technology. In 2008, the Ikos production facilities were relocated to Asperg, the plant capacities were expanded and the processes used were further developed.
