Bavarian Technology Center for Electric Drive Technology (E|Drive Center)

Profile

The overarching objective of the FAPS chair is to network all sub-functions of a factory into a computer-integrated overall concept. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Franke focuses research on innovative manufacturing processes especially for mechatronic products.

The six research areas are structured along the integration levels of mechatronic systems and include packaging as well as assembly and interconnection technology for electronic components and assemblies (printing, assembly, testing), manufacturing processes for electrical drives (as described above), and the development and production of new products; The research areas include the design and automation of electrical drives (as described above), the development and assembly of biomechatronic products, the engineering of complex mechatronic systems, and technologies and methods for intelligent and resource-efficient living.

The Bavarian Competence Center for Electric Drive Technology (E|Drive Center) at the Chair of FAPS works on application-oriented research topics in electrical engineering. As an interface between industry and university, the E|Drive-Center bundles the extensive research competencies in the Nuremberg metropolitan region in the field of electric drive technology. With its three fields of activity - production-related design, production technologies and application development - it comprehensively covers the technology field of electric drive technology. The spectrum of services ranges from the construction of prototypes, the qualification of components and drives or the design of mechatronic drive systems, the detailed analysis and optimization of individual production processes to the design of complete production lines.
