Profile

The Fraunhofer ISC in Würzburg develops customized and sustainable material solutions. At the ISC, the Center Smart Materials and Adaptive Systems CeSMA researches intelligent materials for the realization of controllable systems and technological components. The focus here is on the development of smart elastomers for integrated sensor technology and process technology expertise for combining electronics with textiles/paper. Actuators, human-machine interfaces, dampers, smart textiles, optoelectronic systems, display technologies and electronic components are further areas of work. At the trade fair, we will be showing smart textile prototypes and sensor patches for measuring pressure, temperature and humidity. Large-area sensors are suitable for process control and for intelligent packaging printed directly onto paper/plastic film. We are also presenting a sensor array that monitors the expansion of battery cells to improve their cycle stability and service life.
