Regiothek GmbH

The company "Regiothek" started as a project at the Chair of Data Science at the University of Passau and was spun off as an independent GmbH in October 2018. The start-up has set itself the task of facilitating the exchange of information in the regional food sector via state-of-the-art platform technologies. Already the first publicly viewable prototype of the platform regiothek.de with the unique selling point of product-specific supply chain visualization (regionality becomes traceable) caused awards on EU and national level. 

The Regiothek platform collects data from different actors of the value chain (Regiothek customers) about suppliers, buyers as well as ingredients, combines this information and makes this information publicly viewable. To optimize the technologies, Regiothek GmbH has been working on the BMEL-funded AI research project SMAEG-Bot in cooperation with the University of Passau (CENTOURIS and Chair of Data Science) since 2021.
