Information

Nokia creates technology that helps the world act together.

As a B2B technology innovation leader, we are pioneering networks that sense, think and act by leveraging our work across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. In addition, we create value with intellectual property and long-term research, led by the award-winning Nokia Bell Labs.

With truly open architectures that seamlessly integrate into any ecosystem, our high-performance networks create new opportunities for monetization and scale. Service providers, enterprises and partners worldwide trust Nokia to deliver secure, reliable and sustainable networks today – and work with us to create the digital services and applications of the future.
Germany is one of the key countries for research and development for Nokia. Our R&D locations are in Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Ulm, close to major technical universities and key ecosystem partners & communities.
These sites play a significant role in advanced technology development, patent generation and in creating products and solutions for mobile, fixed, optical and industrial-grade private wireless networks.

Each R&D site has a distinct focus area: Munich is the German Digitalization & Technology Hub, hosting cross unit end-to-end expertise; Nuremberg focuses on high-speed optical networks; Stuttgart is the Center of Competence for Industry 4.0, and Ulm is specialized in 5G radio and Open RAN.
Additionally, Germany hosts Nokia Bell Labs standardization and Nokia Technologies which focuses on our licensing business, covering patent, brand and technology.
Nokia is also a very active player in the local German ICT and OT industry ecosystem. We innovate jointly with a strong set of partners, including universities, research institutions, telco operators, enterprises and other communities involved in telecommunications research.
As a telco industry leader in Germany, Nokia provides infrastructure and services to all major telco operators as well as many enterprises,
