Profile
Munich Quantum Instruments (MQI) develops scalable superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs) for next generation Quantum LiDAR, based on detectors we developed for ESA. The Quantum LiDAR system is currently at TRL 4 and enables covert reconnaissance, precise target acquisition and real-time situational awareness across all operational domains - land, air and sea. MQI replaces SPAD and PMT detectors and strengthens tactical superiority in the electromagnetic battlefield.
Technology / Research
- Development and production of superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs)
- Core competence in the scaling of SNSPDs based on three patents for nanowire geometry, optical coupling and readout electronics
- SNSPDs as a key technology for a wide range of applications: From quantum key distribution and quantum computing to defense applications in the field of optical detection
Products / (services) performances
- Multi-channel chip: Detector module with several parallel channels, currently up to 8 channels
- Multi-pixel chip: Detector module with several detection pixels, currently up to 16 pixels
- Q.one: Compact plug-and-play SNSPD system with integrated electronics and cryogenics
- Co-Development & Integration: Customer-specific adaptation and integration of SNSPD technologies
