In recent years, KIMW-F has been able to build up a wide range of expertise in the fields of surface and coating technology and in combination with processing tools. Accordingly, the institute's research topics lie in the following areas:

The non-profit KIMW Forschungs-GmbH researches the necessary materials and processes or further develops existing systems. The focus is on the basic development of CVD coating processes for the creation of innovative and customized coating sequences as well as the scaling up of such processes. The research center designs and tests innovative heating and temperature control systems for the tool industry.
