ENKA produces viscose filament yarns (continuous filament yarns) for textile and industrial applications using its own manufacturing process at the Industrie Center Obernburg. One focus is on so-called "aerospace grade" products, which are processed into high-quality carbon fabrics and embedded in carbon phenolic composites (CPCs). These are used as ablative/thermal protection systems in solid rocket motors and other applications.

Technology / Research

ENKA's proprietary manufacturing process (bobbin spinning technology) enables ENKA to produce high quality viscose filament yarns with exceptional chemical purity and quality consistency. ENKA's "Aerospace Grade" products were therefore certified by the US Supply Chain over twenty years ago as a replacement for products from an American manufacturer (NARC) that was leaving the market at the time. ENKA fulfills all modern European environmental requirements and has a certified quality and energy management system; ENKA's products carry various sustainability certificates.
