Information
For the development of quantum technologies in wide bandgap semiconductors, the generation of quantum systems (color centers) with optically spectrally stable properties plays a central role. Building on its materials, device and system expertise in power electronics applications, IISB is developing quantum technology applications of WBG semiconductor materials. This enables application-oriented characterization, which is essential for stringent material and technology development for WBG quantum devices. IISB is working closely with the Chair of Electronic Devices at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg in this effort.
Profile
In its two business units "Semiconductors" and "Power Electronics", IISB conducts research under the motto "Electronic systems - from materials to power electronic systems all from a single source". One of the main topics is wide band gap semiconductors (WBG), especially silicon carbide (SiC). Building on this WBG expertise, IISB is now developing quantum devices based on color centers in WBG semiconductor materials for quantum sensing, communication and computing.
Products
Isotope-pure SiC epitaxy; generation of color centers in SiC and diamond; development of quantum devices based on color centers in WBG semiconductor materials; low-temperature measurement of color center-based quantum devices; development of miniaturized quantum sensor systems for electronic and medical applications;
