Information
In order to develop the world's first fusion power plant, Proxima Fusion is utilizing groundbreaking breakthroughs in basic research and the latest developments in the fields of high-temperature superconductors, automation, additive manufacturing and machine learning. Of all the technology paths, stellarators offer the royal road to the power plant due to the comparably high technological maturity and degree of testing at Wendelstein 7-X. As an inherent part of the global fusion community, Proxima Fusion leverages decades of expertise and an established supply chain.
Profile
Proxima Fusion emerged from research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). This makes it the only spin-out to date from 60 years of publicly funded fusion research in Germany. The team of physicists and engineers has set itself the goal of combining excellent basic research with start-up speed in order to make the world's first commercial fusion power plant a reality.
