The Institute of Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen University (ITA) is one of the top 5 institutes in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University in terms of patent applications, turnover and number of employees, making it one of the largest institutes at RWTH overall. The core competencies of the institute lie in the

  • the development of textile machines and components
  • new materials
  • new processes for the production of textiles
  • new textile structures and new products (e.g. fiber composites, medical textiles).

The ITA offers courses in the following areas: Mechanical engineering specializing in textile technology, industrial engineering specializing in textile technology and upper secondary vocational school teachers.
