Technologies and concepts for shaping the energy and raw material turnaround. The Fraunhofer UMSICHT branch in Sulzbach-Rosenberg develops business-oriented solutions in energy technology and the circular economy. With a focus on process engineering and plant engineering, it accompanies companies from the project idea through pilot plants to market launch. The institute focuses on developing processes and plants for the conversion of biogenic residues into valuable, storable products (e.g. green fuels and biochar) and for the recycling of composite materials (e.g. electronic scrap) as part of concepts for waste management. The Center for Energy Storage (CES) focuses on integrated, decentralized energy conversion and energy storage systems.
