Healthtech Innovation Insight: Modern healthcare through telemedicine: The video consultation in everyday practice for a better doctor-patient bond

Telemedicine, and video consultations in particular, have significantly eased the burden on doctors' surgeries during the pandemic. Digital care has enjoyed widespread popularity, both among service providers and patients. However, while there were still around one million video consultations in 2021, the number fell sharply after the pandemic. So what is the future of remote treatment?

In this session, we would like to use specific use cases to provide a brief insight into how telemedical remote treatment on Doctolib can be seamlessly integrated into everyday practice, provide noticeable relief and also make access to care low-threshold and close to home.

Chris Berger has been Head of Public Policy at Doctolib in Berlin since September 8, 2020. He heads up the e-health provider's public policy division and oversees all government affairs activities at national level. Doctolib is a Franco-German company and the largest e-health provider in Europe. Berger was previously Policy Officer at the German Health IT Association (bvitg) from 2017 to 2020. He was also Vice-Chair of the "Europe as a Health Innovation Hub" Committee at the European Health Parliament in Brussels from 2019-2021. Berger also heads the bvitg's telemedicine project group on a voluntary basis.

After studying at the University of London and the University of Kent, Mr. Berger worked as a legal counsel in Ukraine and as the office manager of a parliamentary office in the Bundestag. He then worked as a public affairs officer at Händlerbund, where he helped set up various working groups and the political advisory board of the e-commerce association.
