In this webinar, we would like to introduce you to the Carbon Management Coordination Office and provide an overview of support services and funding opportunities in the field of Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Bavaria.

Energy Lounge with VK Energie GmbH: Battery storage in the municipal energy transition: Practical project Feuchtwangen

We look forward to welcoming you to our Energy Lounge! Our partners from the Energy Technology Cluster regularly present their topics, projects and innovative products here. The free online event takes place via the Windows tool "Teams", so that you can simply connect via a browser link.

How can a battery storage system be operated economically and stabilize the power grid at the same time? And what does this mean in concrete terms for a municipality? These questions are at the heart of the event, which focuses on the Feuchtwangen municipal utility's battery storage project.

A battery storage system with an output of ten megawatts and a capacity of 20 megawatt hours was implemented in Feuchtwangen. The system acts as a short-term buffer for locally generated green electricity and actively supports grid stability - an example of how municipal energy supply can be designed and implemented in a modern way.

Our cluster partner VK Energie GmbH and Stadtwerke Feuchtwangen show how a decarbonization study turned into a technically and economically successful project. Key steps, challenges and solutions will be presented, from site analysis to construction and commissioning.

Particular attention will be paid to the experience gained during operation: How does multi-market optimization work? How can the network operator's specifications be integrated into daily operations? And what prospects arise from the planned combination with an electrolyzer?

The free event is aimed at municipal utilities, energy suppliers, operators of storage projects and project developers who would like to gain practical insights into a future-oriented large-scale storage project.

The event is free of charge!
