According to Grand View Horizon Databooks (UK Additive Manufacturing Market Size & Outlook, 2023-2030), the UK additive manufacturing market generated revenues of EUR 1,335.67 million in 2023 and is expected to grow to EUR 5,761.48 million by 2030, representing a strong compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.2% from 2024 to 2030. In 2023, hardware (physical components and devices, especially the 3D printers themselves, print heads, build platforms, laser systems, motion units, and accessories for post-processing and quality assurance) was both the largest and the fastest growing segment, remaining the most attractive segment over the forecast period.
In addition, government initiatives - such as investment in the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult and targeted support programs for industrial 3D printing applications - are driving innovation and cross-sector adoption, particularly in the healthcare, aerospace, energy and automotive sectors.
According to the Additive Manufacturing UK National Strategy 2018-25, the United Kingdom is aiming to generate over EUR 4.06 billion in gross value added (GVA) annually through additive manufacturing by 2025. This is expected to create around 60,000 highly skilled jobs and significantly increase export and growth opportunities.
