New Funding Opportunity for the Bavarian Glass Industry: The 2026 EEW Funding Round Begins
September 3, 2026
The fifth round of the technology- and industry-neutral funding competition “Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy” (EEW) will run from September 1 through October 31, 2026 (tentative). Companies can submit investment projects that significantly reduce energy consumption, material use, and CO₂ emissions. The maximum funding rate is up to 60 percent, and up to 20 million euros can be provided per project.
Eligible investments include, among other things, energy-efficient melting and production facilities, the use of waste heat and renewable process heat, electrification measures, and projects aimed at saving materials and resources. Given the high energy costs in glass manufacturing, such projects can create significant competitive advantages.
Glass manufacturers planning to modernize their melting tanks, implement waste heat utilization concepts, or take measures to improve material efficiency should therefore review the current funding round at an early stage. Since the funding program is organized in two stages and a funding round may close early if demand is high, it is advisable to prepare the application documents promptly.
