ALADIN is driving circular textile production in Europe
July 16, 2026
The EU project ALADIN is developing digital solutions, recycling technologies, and regional microfactories for circular textile production. The goal is a sustainable and resource-efficient textile industry in Europe.
The EU-funded ALADIN research project, which launched in May 2026, aims to make textile production in Europe more sustainable, regional, and circular. Under the leadership of the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF), partners from six European countries are developing digital platforms, innovative recycling technologies, and new business models for demand-driven production in regional microfactories. Among other things, the project utilizes a digital product passport, AI-supported eco-design tools, and sustainable and recycled materials. The new concepts are being tested in practice in three pilot applications—including a T-shirt, a smart parka, and a convertible blazer dress. In the long term, ALADIN aims to establish a Europe-wide network for a resource-efficient and circular textile economy.
